"The more I am around people, the more questions I ask... It is mind-boggling to me the perspectives and experiences that I have gained by opening up my heart and mind to listen to stories of people I have come to love. Everyone has value = everyone has a story. The more I shut up and listen, the more I learn. It’s time that we start listening more to those around us. My goal is to put the stories of the people who otherwise wouldn’t be seen or heard in the spotlight. Providing awareness through film is only the first step in my philosophy. Once you have been impacted, you have to impact. How can we really make change happen if we only talk about it? Film is a conduit for change. We need to stop acting like “supporting” individuals starts and stops in conversations or press about them. filmmakers need to usher in that change. That is advocacy to me, using empathy through film to reach and get involved in helping those who need the visibility to make large scale change."
